The Parable of the Fig Tree



In this video, we will learn the lesson of the Barren Fig Tree. This was a prophecy spoken by Jesus regarding the Jews and Jerusalem in the last days.

It's important to remember that there is a believing Jewish remnant there, inside the land as well as outside the land. Many of the Jewish remnants suffer forms of persecution for their belief in their Jewish Messiah. They keep their Jewish identity and celebrate the feasts. Many are Torah observant; however they are often disowned by their families because of their belief in Messiah.

As Christians, we must pray for Christians in the area, as well as those following Judaism and Islam. We should earnestly pray God will deliver them and open their eyes to His truth.

El Politico II: Does Obama's Chicago Roots Really Matter?

On my previous post, I have mentioned a little about Obama’s questionable relationship with people who believes in Marxism while he was still a “community organizer” in Chicago. But does Obama’s Chicago roots really matter? ABSOLUTELY! I believe his dubious associations, past political maneuvering, and far left ideology are quite indicative of how he will govern if God forbid he is elected. For me, it’s not just his roots–it’s the very core of his being.

I am frustrated and disgusted that the drive by media refuses to properly vet him. His relationship with Ayers obviously deserves closer scrutiny. The two of them basically tried to highjack the Chicago Public Schools in order to implement the radical extremism that Ayers still espouses to this day.

McCain must leverage Obama’s questionable past as part of his overall strategy. He needs to do a much better job of educating voters on how dangerous an Obama administration coupled with a Pelosi and Reid led Congress is for America. Just thinking about what the Supreme Court will look like when they are finished makes me shutter.

Obama is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and America needs to wake up to this fact.

Politics…politics…politics…

That’s all I hear all day. I hear it from my colleagues, from friends and from my husband. When I turn the TV on, all I see is a politician bashing another politician or the media bashing a particular politican. It’s driving me bananas. It’s not that I don’t care (’coz mind you, I really do)…I just can’t believe how bias the media can be. It’s like they, together with the Hollywood elites seem to live in their own fantasy land. It seems like journalism is dead here in the US. They don’t even talk about real issues anymore. Does it really matter if Gov. Palin’s daughter is pregnant out of wedlock? It happens all the time, so get over it people! I don’t quite get it…well, actually, I do get it. Afterall, we’re already in the last days, right? If I remember it correctly, the Bible does mention that in the last days, nations will be ruled by children…or I should say, adults that behave like children. Now, don’t ask me what verse ‘coz I don’t remember…lol

Anyway, I wish I can vote. Unfortunately, i’m not a US citizen yet and i’m not quite sure if I want to be one (i’ll cross that bridge when I get there). But I love being a Filipino. I will always be Filipino. I know somebody who just recently became a US Citizen and she’s voting for Obama in November…and that really irks me! I mean, c’mon, who would vote for somebody who not only lacks experience but has very questionable relationship with people who believes in Marxism? Plus the fact that he’s a Muslim. For the record, I have nothing against Muslims and I have lots of Muslim friends in the Philippines. It just disturbs and scares the crap out of me the fact that most people who are voting for Obama in November don’t even know who he really is! I mean, that is scary…He preaches CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE…but what kind of change? I have friends from Cuba who told me that according to their relatives, Obama reminds them of Fidel Castro. Now, I don’t really know what that means but I do know who Fidel Castro is. And just that thought alone is scary…

I Will Persist Until I Succeed

I will persist until I succeed.

In the Orient, young bulls are tested for the fight arena in a certain manner. Each is brought to the ring and allowed to attack a picador who pricksthem with a lance. The bravery of each bull is then rated with care according to the number of times he demonstrates his willingness to charge in spite of the sting of the blade. Henceforth will I recognize that each day I am tested by life in like manner. If I persist, if I continue to try, if I continue to charge forward, I will succeed.

I will persist until I succeed.

I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny.

I will persist until I succeed.

The prizes of life are at the end of each journey, not near the beginning; and it is not given to me to know how many steps are necessary in order to reach my goal. Failure I may still encounter at the thousandth step, yet success hides behind the next bend in the road. Never will I know how close it lies unless I turn the corner.

Always will I take another step. If that is of no avail I will take another, and yet another. In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult.

I will persist until I succeed.

Henceforth, I will consider each day's effort as but one blow of my blade against a mighty oak. The first blow may cause not a tremor in the wood, nor the second, nor the third. Each blow, of itself, may be trifling, and seem of no consequence. Yet from childish swipes the oak will eventually tumble. So it will be with my efforts of today.

I will be liken to the rain drop which washes away the mountain; the ant who devours a tiger; the star which brightens the earth; the slave who builds a pyramid. I will build my castle one brick at a time for I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking.

I will persist until I succeed.

I will never consider defeat and I will remove from my vocabulary such words and phrases as quit, cannot, unable, impossible, out of the question, improbable, failure, unworkable, hopeless, and retreat; for they are the words of fools. I will avoid despair but if this disease of the mind should infect me then I will work on in despair. I will toil and I will endure. I will ignore the obstacles at my feet and keep mine eyes on the goals above my head, for I know that where dry desert ends, green grass grows.

I will remember the ancient law of averages and I will bend it to my good. I will persist with knowledge that each failure to sell will increase my chance for success at the next attempt. Each nay I hear will bring me closer to the sound of yea. Each frown I meet only prepares me for the smile to come. Each misfortune I encounter will carry in it the seed of tomorrow's good luck. I must have the night to appreciate the day. I must fail often to succeed only once.

I will persist until I succeed.

I will try, and try, and try again. Each obstacle I will consider as a mere detour to my goal and a challenge to my profession. I will persist and develop my skills as the mariner develops his, by learning to ride out the wrath of each storm.

Henceforth, I will learn and apply another secret of those who excel in my work. When each day is ended, not regarding whether it has been a success or a failure, I will attempt to achieve one more sale. When my thoughts beckon my tired body homeward I will resist the temptation to depart. I will try again. I will make one more attempt to close with victory, and if that fails I will make another. Never will I allow any day to end with a failure. Thus will I plant the seed of tomorrow's success and gain an insurmountable advantage over those who cease their labor at a prescribed time. When others cease their struggle, then mine will begin, and my harvest will be full.

I will persist until I succeed.

Nor will I allow yesterday's success to lull me into today's complacency, for this is the great foundation of failure. I will forget the happenings of the day that is gone, whether they were good or bad, and greet the new sun with confidence that this will be the best day of my life.

So long as there is breath in me, that long will I persist. For now I know one of the greatest principles of success; if I persist long enough I will win.

The Georgia-Russia War Explained



Washington (AFP): Russian forces surged into the breakaway region last week after weeks of clashes, threats and warnings between Tblisi and Moscow which culminated August 6 in a two-day Georgian offensive into South Ossetia.

That the two countries were on a collision course was no surprise to anyone, but the devastating Russian response was not expected, officials said.

"We were tracking it earlier in that week and we knew that things were escalating," said a military official, who asked not to be identified. "I can tell you it moved quicker than we anticipated that first day."

But how it unfolded is still unclear, clouded by conflicting claims from both sides.

"I think a lot of what you're asking needs to be ironed out," said the official.

"Some of these little issues are definitely still big questions in this event -- What was the intent? Who started it? Why did they start it? And why weren't they prepared to defend what they started?"

President George W. Bush, who urged Moscow to cease fire and return to pre-August 6 positions, charged in a televised statement that Russia's intention appeared to be depose Georgia's democratically elected president.

But the extent of the Russian operation remained unclear to US officials on Monday.

Georgian officials said Russian troops had moved out of South Ossetia into Georgia proper, occupying the city of Gori while Georgian troops were retreating to the capital.

But US defense officials said they were unable to corroborate the Georgian claims.

"We don't see anything that supports they are in Gori," said a defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "I don't know why the Georgians are saying that."

"That assessment is ongoing," said Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman.

The United States has among the most powerful tools for monitoring brewing conflicts, from spy satellites to reconnaissance aircraft and drones capable of scooping up radio signals or capture real-time images of forces on the ground.

But the extent to which they were trained on this remote conflict before it turned violent is not known.

The Russians, however, warned on August 3 of a growing threat of "large scale military conflict" between Georgia and South Ossetia.

The State Department issued a mild statement on August 5 urging Moscow to refrain from provocative actions, but gave no hint that it was aware that military action either by Georgia or Russia was in the offing.

Officials have suggested the fighting was not seen as an immediate threat, in part because there were only about 95 US troops and 35 civilian contractors in the country training Georgian troops for Iraq. And they were not near South Ossetia.

Some 1,650 US troops conducted a joint exercise with the Georgian military in mid-July. But they were out of the country when the hostilities flared.

At around the same time, the Russian military deployed 8,000 troops to the North Caucases for counter-terrorism exercises that Moscow said were unrelated to the tensions with its southern neighbor.

The US defense official said about 8,000 to 10,000 Russian troops have moved into South Ossetia. They also have flown SU-25, SU-24, SU-27 and TU-22 fighters and bombers during the campaign.

But the official said there was no obvious buildup of Russian forces along the border that signaled an intention to invade.

"Once it did happen they were able to get the forces quickly and it was just a matter of taking the roads in. So it's not as though they were building up forces on the border, waiting," the official said.

"What are their future intentions, I don't know. Obviously they could throw more troops at this if they wanted to," he said.

Denying Jesus

"Now Peter sat outside, in the palace; and a damsel came unto him, saying, `Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.' But he denied before them all, saying, `I know not what thou sayest.' And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, `This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.' And again he denied with an oath, `I do not know the man.' And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, `Surely thou also art one of them, for thy speech betrayeth thee.' Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, `I know not the man.' And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, `Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.' And he went out, and wept bitterly." - Mt.26:69-75

In the pre-dawn chill, impetuous Peter warmed himself by the fire in the courtyard of the high priest's palace and vehemently denied knowing the Lord. Doubtless he made himself believe that doing so was his only escape. It will not stretch the imagination too far to suppose that in his dark hour of reasoning he was thinking, "If I am killed or thrown into prison, how can I help the Master?" He could even have been planning to rescue Jesus by organizing his friends. Whatever his thoughts were, they seemed logical to him; that is, until the cock crowed and "the Lord turned and looked at Peter." It was then that Peter for the first time saw himself as he really was: a poor, wilted, backslidden apostle.

Earlier that evening Peter, in the high optimism of faith, declared to Jesus, "Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee." Now, a few hours later, we find this same apostle to be of another persuasion, his faith gone, and he in the bondage of fear. It was when he began to chart his own course that he began to doubt and to become fearful of his enemies. The conclusion of a dying faith is fear. The heart that trusts in God has a shield through which neither fear nor doubt may pass.

As a fisherman, Peter had many times matched his courage against the winds and waves on the Sea of Galilee. He did not run from danger so long as he was familiar with the dangers which confronted him. How boldly he drew his sword to defend Jesus when the soldiers and servants of the high priest came to arrest him in the Garden of Gethsemene! But the little maids in the palace confronted Peter with another type of warfare - the uncertainties of a trial before the council and the bitter, merciless questions of the elders. How was he to fight these experienced rulers? How foolish they would make him appear before all the people! He would have died for his Master in a physical contest, but in a battle of spirits he fled before the probing questions of little girls. Peter was neither the first or the last to fail this test.

The only hope for Peter was that he had not lost faith in the forgiving love of his Master. What a change awaited this faint-hearted disciple! In only a few weeks, he possessed the spiritual strength to stand in Jerusalem and proclaim the gospel to the same angry mob that now was having his Lord sent to the cruel cross of Calvary. When the time came, thank God, he wasn't afraid. There is no room for anxiety in the heart which is filled with God's Spirit. Where there is faith, there cannot be fear. Peter's fear and unbelief had so dominated him that he disobeyed openly, and God had to refuse his service. Then Peter proved his sinful condition by denying the Lord outright. But, as we have stated, a few weeks later Peter was a completely different man.

On Pentecost morning, Peter was transformed by the grace of God which is greater than all sin, and he fearlessly proclaimed, "Let all the house of Israel assuredly know that God hath made that same Jesus both Lord and Christ" (Acts 2:36). This apostle need weep no tears of remorse for his actions now. He could face danger and death joyously, for his works and words were in accord with Him who had restored to him the joy of his salvation.

Yes, men saw a new Simon Peter that day, no longer behind "locked doors for fear of the Jews", but boldly standing in the temple courtyard, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Twice he was brought before the council and warned to stop preaching. His boldness astonished the leaders of Israel, for even to them as they sat in their judgment seats he preached Christ as man's only hope of salvation (Acts 4:5-12). Neither prison nor the lash could stop this reclaimed apostle. Once, after being beaten, he departed from the council rejoicing that he was worthy to suffer shame for the sake of Jesus (Acts 5:40-41).


"In Works They Deny Him"
Thousands are today denying their acquaintance with this same Lord that Peter once denied. Their denial may not be as obvious as Peter's was, perhaps, for he denied our Lord in both works and words. But notice that the works came first. On the night of Jesus's betrayal and arrest, Peter attacked the high priest's servant with a sword. This was not the behavior of a faithful follower of the meek Son of God. Later that same night, Peter's verbal denial of Jesus was no greater a denial of the Lord than was his attack on those who arrested Jesus; it was merely another way of denying him.

It would be difficult to find anyone who has been forgiven of sin by Christ who has backslidden so far as to verbally deny him; at the same time, there are many who deny Jesus by the way they try to do him service, just as Peter denied him by taking up the sword in the garden. Paul speaks of such brothers by saying, "They profess that they know God, but in works they deny him" (Tit.1:16). May God give us grace to see that if we fail to obey His Word, we are already denying Him in works, our continued lip-service notwithstanding. "Faith without works," wrote James, "is dead" (Jas.2:17). Worship without obedience is nothing more than flattery.

Yes, indeed, my reader, we can by our works deny the Lord we claim to serve and be just as far from God's approval as Peter ever was. For instance, Paul declared, "But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel" (1Tim.5:8).

As we view this generation of pleasure-loving believers we are made to recall Paul's description of them: "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof." He further warns us, "From such turn away" (2Tim.3:5). Peter, in describing this same class of unholy believers says, "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them" (2Pet.2:1). Jude comments on this same group by telling us, "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness [lustfulness], and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved [rescued] the people out of the Land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not" (Jude 4,5). Please note that none of these verses refer to believers who verbally deny Jesus; on the contrary, they claimed to speak for him. Nevertheless, their denial of the Lord was real.

Reader, are you among the multitude of those who worship the Lord, but deny Jesus by your works? Having found many such worshippers among His Old Testament people, the Lord lamented, "This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoreth Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me", adding the dreadful statement, "In vain do they worship Me" (Mt.15:8-9). Jesus was referring to more than a verbal denial when he said, "Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven" (Mt.10:33). This warning was repeated by Paul in his second letter to Timothy, when he wrote, "If we deny him, he will also deny us" (2:12).

Do you have the witness of the holy Ghost that your life is free from sin? Or does your life proclaim, "I know him not"? Are you uncertain - this very moment - that your heart is free from evil? If you are not sure, it is time for you to realize that as long as you remain in this condition you are denying the Son of God openly.

When all sin is confessed, and all doubt is removed from our lives, when we submit to the divine will instead of following our own, when the love of God rules our hearts, and when we wholly submit to the Word of Truth, then - and not before - we do no longer deny the Lord, the one who bought us with his own blood. The true followers of Jesus Christ are distinguished not merely by their speaking well of Jesus, but also by their submission to his will. For this reason Jesus said, "By their fruits [works] ye shall know them."

An Issue of Trust

Trust isn’t what it used to be. Employers require background checks, stores and street corners are peppered with security cameras, passwords and secret codes protect many aspects of professional and personal life.

Even sending a romantic e-card to a partner may no longer be as sweet or innocent a gesture--technology has afforded leery lovers a new way to prove their mate’s virtual faithfulness.

An online company offers suspicious significant others and jealous spouses a secret way to observe their lover’s on-line habits. In the form of an unassuming e-card, the recipient unknowingly downloads onto their computer a program that tracks every movement they make--including all keystrokes, emails, passwords, visited sites and screen shots. The software then forwards all collected information to the spying company, which in turn sends it to the mistrustful mate.

While this tactic is an illegal form of information gathering, for a mere $89, a person can bug up to five computers and have the resulting information sent their way--all the while, their lover having no idea they are being watched.

Proverbs 31 outlines the attributes of a good wife. While some of the specifics may seem dated, the overall theme hasn’t changed throughout the ages. Above, and perhaps because of all her other noble characteristics, this spectacular example of a woman is trusted. “Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life” (Proverbs 31:11,12).

Aren’t we lucky that our God--a God who numbers the hairs on our heads (Matt. 10:30) and is familiar with everything we do (Psalm 139:3)--loves us in a way that honors our best interests? Although powerful enough to decipher our very thoughts, our God doesn’t have to resort to crude tactics to scrutinize our every action. Instead, He lovingly watches our steps and leads us in paths that will bless and prosper us even if we aren’t faithful to Him. Although God knows more about us than we know about ourselves, we needn’t fear our Maker. Far from a suspicious and spying lover, God is a trustworthy Friend who has only our best interests in mind.

House Church Leader Arrested in Iran

On May 31, house church leader Mohsen Namvar was arrested by eight police officers in his home in Tehran, Iran.

According to Compass Direct News, "The officers confiscated a number of Namvar's personal belongings including his computer, printer, CDs, books and money. He was given no official explanation for the arrest, and his current location is unknown." Compass Direct added, "According to an Iranian pastor residing outside the country, Namvar had anticipated that police would come for him since hearing that he had been implicated during police interrogations of Christians in the city of Amol in April.

He had been warned by a friend that authorities were keeping him under close watch. Namvar was previously held and tortured for baptizing Muslim converts to Christianity in the spring of 2007."

Pray for Namvar's release. Pray that he will act as a faithful witness for Christ during his detention. Pray that his wife and children will rely on the Lord for comfort and strength.

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

Christianity is a Verb, not a Noun

Are you a Christian? What does Christian mean?

The term was first used in Acts 11:26

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. - Acts 11:26

The "he" is this passage refers to Barnabas, who found "him" (Saul) in Tarsus and brought him to Antioch. Then Barnabas and Saul "assembled themselves with the church" and "taught much people." The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.)

The term Christian means "little Christ." Originally, Christian was used as a scornful term, a ridicule to mock followers of Christ.

The Christians of this time were such followers of Christ that they were ridiculed for it. That's how much they stood out from non-Christians. They were scorned for their lifestyle.

Isn't that interesting? The Christians mentioned here were so radical, so devoted in following their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, that they were ridiculed for it.

Are you a Christian? Then act like it.

As a Christian, should you be different from the world? Yes.

If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
John 15:19


Listen to this next verse.

I beseech you therefore, brethern, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:1


In the above verse, Paul is writing to the church in Rome, and tells them it is their "reasonable service" to present their "bodies a living sacrifice." Wow! Reasonable? Paul did not say extreme or out-of-the-ordinary, but reasonable. According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of reasonable is: "not extreme: moderate, fair." Imagine that. Again, Paul is implying that presenting our bodies a living sacrifice is fair. Wow.

(The difficulty with a living sacrifice is it has the ability to crawl off the altar. In our daily walk, we have the choice to avoid sin or indulge in it. It is our reasonable service to avoid sin at all costs, even if it hurts us physically. If it doesn't cost anything, then it's not a sacrifice. Although Salvation is a free Gift, the cost is our life.)

Romans 12:1 and Acts 11:26 show the seriousness of being a Christian. Romans 12:1 indicates our fair service to God--presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice. Acts 11:26 gives us the place (Antioch) where the disciples were first called Christians.

Are you presenting your body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service? Are you a Christian, a "little Christ?"

If you are a Christian, then act like it. How? In action. Become an active Christian. Read The Bible. Do what it says. Avoid sin at all costs. Do not continue in sin.

Trust in Times of Trial

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." Psalm 55:22

The Lord's care is over all His creatures. He loves them all, and makes no difference, except that He has the most tender pity for those who are called to bear life's heaviest burdens. God's children must meet trials and difficulties. But they should accept their lot with a cheerful spirit, remembering that for all that the world neglects to bestow, God Himself will make up to them in the best of favors.

We are in danger, by worrying, of manufacturing yokes for our necks. Let us not worry, for thus we make the yoke more severe and the burden heavy. Let us do all we can without worrying, trusting in Christ.

With the continual change of circumstances, changes come in our experience; and by these changes we are either elated or depressed. But the change of circumstances has no power to change God's relation to us. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever; and He asks us to have unquestioning confidence in His love.

Satan watches his opportunity to bring about circumstances that will tend to arouse unbelief, hoping to lead us to doubt God. We cannot afford to cherish one thought of unbelief. When we are tempted to look on the dark side, let us open the windows of the soul heavenward, that the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness may shine in. Let us draw near to God. He has promised that as we do this He will draw near to us and lift up for us a standard against the enemy. The efficiency of His keeping power has in no wise decreased. Let faith stand its trial without wavering, for Christ is a perfect Saviour.

You may look upon your plans as perfect, but God may see that it is essential for you to suffer disappointment in order that your plans may be brought into harmony with His plan. His way is always the right way. He seeth and knoweth all things. We do not always see as He sees. . . .

Take your stand on the word of God. Whatever may occur, hold fast the beginning of your confidence firm unto the end.

We Reap What We Sow

A fairly prominent American was interviewed on the Early Show recently and the interviewer asked him, “How could God let something like this happen?” (In regards to the attacks on September 11)

He gave an extremely profound and insightful response.

"I believe God would be deeply saddened and grieved by this just as we are but for years we have been taking the basic teachings of the Ten Commandments of God out of our schools, out of the government and out of our lives and by doing so have forced these basic guidelines of love out of our lives. How can we expect anybody to respect anyone else if they do not know why it is they should do so?

In the light of recent events…school shootings, terrorist attacks etc, I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered and her body found recently) complained she did not want prayer in our schools.
And we said OKAY.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in schools…the Bible says thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not kill, and love your neighbour as yourself.
And we said OKAY.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we should not spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should certainly know what he is talking about.
So we said OKAY.

Then someone said principles and teachers better not discipline the children when they misbehave. The school administrators said no faculty member in the schools should touch a student when they misbehave because we surely don't want to be sued and we don't want any bad publicity (there is a big difference between disciplining, touching, smacking, beating, humiliating, kicking, etc.)
And we said OKAY.

Then someone said we should let our daughters have abortions if they want and they won't have to tell their parents unless they want to.
And we said OKAY.

Then some supposed wise school board member said, since boys will be boys and they are going to do it anyway, we should give our sons all the condoms they need so they can have all the fun they desire and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.
And we said OKAY.

Then some of our top elected officials said it does not matter what we do in private as long as we are doing our jobs. Agreeing with them, we said it does not matter to me what anyone, including the President, does in private as long as I have a job and the economy is going good.

Then someone said let's print magazines with pictures of nude women and call it wholesome, down-to-earth appreciation for the beauty of the female body.
And we said OKAY.

And then someone else took that appreciation a step further and published pictures of nude children and then went even further again by making them available on the Internet.
And we said OKAY, they are entitled to free speech.

Then the entertainment industry said, let's make television shows and movies that promote violence, profanity and illicit sex. Let's record music that encourages drugs, rape, murder, suicide and occultish themes. And we said it is just entertainment, it has no adverse effect, nobody takes it seriously anyway so go right ahead.

Now we are asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it does not bother them to kill their classmates, strangers and even themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out!
I think it has a great deal to do with the fact that “WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.”

Funny how simple it is for people to trash age old teachings based on the Ten Commandments of God and then wonder why the world has become so unsafe, unstable and seemingly out of control. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say but question what our religious teachers of all faiths have taught us for many centuries.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through the internet and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding Christianity, people think twice about sharing. Funny how crude, lewd, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace but public discussion of Christian beliefs is suppressed in the work place and schools.

Are you laughing?

Funny how if you decide to forward this page, you will not send it too many people in your address book because you are not sure what they believe or what they will think of you for sending it to them. Funny how we can be more concerned about what other people think of us than what we think of ourselves. Or even more importantly so, what GOD thinks of us.

Oprah Denies Jesus?

A lot of you might have already seen this video or heard about it. But before throwing your judgment at me, I want to assure you that my reason for posting it here is not to condemn Oprah. I used to be an Oprah "fan". I used to watch her show everyday when I was still in the Philippines. I love the fact that she helps a lot of people 'coz I know, that is of great value in the eyes of God. But it breaks my heart to know that Oprah denied JESUS in front of millions of viewers! That is so misleading...and yes, that is a disaster!

Jesus is the only way! Here's what the Bible says:

"Jesus answered, 'I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" John 14:6

"But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 10:33

Isn't that clear enough? No one comes to the Father except through Jesus...and if we deny Him, He will also deny us!

I still like Oprah. Like I said, I don't condemn her at all. In fact, I am praying and hoping that one day she will come to the realization that Jesus is indeed, our Saviour...and that He is indeed, the one and only way! And He died on the cross to save us from eternal damnation!

Please Pray for Ella...She Has Brain Tumor



This is a forwarded message from my mother-in-law concerning Ella, a 5-year old girl with in inoperable brain tumor. Please read the letter below. May your heart be touched...

On Sunday, April 27th, Ella Newmiller and her family attended church at Edenton Street United Methodist, in Raleigh, as they do each week. Ella is in my son Scott's, 4 year old Sunday School class. Ella did not feel well that evening. Her parents, Renae and Mark, took her to an urgent care facility. On Monday, they found themselves at UNC Hospitals, being faced with the news that their precious daughter has an inoperable brain tumor. It is located at the base of her brain, inside the brain stem.

Friday, May 2nd, was Ella's 5th birthday. Friends at Edenton Street pulled together an amazing celebration for "Princess Ella". She arrived in a horse drawn carriage and was greeted by over 100 friends dressed in their royal best. "Mr. and Miss Wolf" from NC State, plus "Stormy", from the Carolina Hurricanes joined in the celebration. There was a DJ, beauty queens, bubbles, balloons and presents.

Ella's mother, Renae, commented, "We don't need meals or errands. The only thing we really need is PRAYER." Renae asked me to tell friends, "even if they don't know Ella", to please pray. She asked that those friends ask 10 friends (even if they don't know the Newmillers) to pray. So, I am asking you to pray daily for Ella Newmiller, for the oncologists and physicians directing her care, for her parents, Renae and Mark, and for her brother Jack (2nd grade). Pray for God's healing hand. Pray for both direction and comfort for Ella's family. Also pray for strength and courage for Ella. Additionally, if you feel led, please forward this prayer request to friends.

Don't WORRY, Be Happy...

Worry doesn't accomplish anything.
"Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil." Psalm 37:8, NIV

There's no need to worry—God has everything under control.
"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:31-33, NIV

We cannot remove worry until we replace it with something better—prayer.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

Worrying is a waste of time.
"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" Luke 12:25-26

Give all your worries to the Lord.
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

Contentment

What brings contentment? Contentment is a gift from God and grows out of having His perspective on life.
"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:12-13, NIV

Contentment grows out of humility and trust in God.
"My heart is not proud, O Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me." Psalm 131:1, NIV.

Contentment grows out of devotion to Christ and eternal values.
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." Matthew 6:24, NIV

Coveting is a barrier to contentment.
"You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor." Exodus 20:17, NIV.

Materialism is a barrier to contentment.
"People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction." I Timothy 6:9, NIV.

The Story of Faninus - Italy, 1550

In the 1500's, Christians throughout Europe who read copies of the Bible in their own language, instead of Latin, were condemned to die as heretics. Faninus was one of the first martyrs to die in Italy.

Faninus, a "learned layman", read illegal Christian books translated into Italian and was converted to the knowledge of Christ. He began to secretly teach the Gospel, but was soon caught and thrown into prison. While in prison, however, his wife, children and friends all visited him and finally convinced him to renounce his faith to obtain his release.

Once free from confinement, however, Faninus found that he actually was not free at all and reports state that "his mind felt the heaviest of chains; the weight of a guilty conscience." He reaffirmed his dedication to Christ and began publicly preaching the gospel all throughout the country with great fruit and effect in places that he went.

Not surprisingly, Faninus was arrested a second time in 1547, and this time he did not waver in his faith. When asked how he could leave his wife and children in distress, he replied, "I shall not leave them in distress; I have recommended them to the care of an excellent trustee."

"What trustee?" was the question, to which Faninus replied, "Jesus Christ is the trustee I mean, and I think I could not commit them to the care of a better."

After more than two years in prison, he was condemned to death for heresy. On the day of execution, an observer noted that Faninus was amazingly cheerful and told him, "It is strange you should appear so merry upon such an occasion, When Jesus Christ himself, just before his death, was in such agonies, that he sweated blood and water." This was Faninus' reply: "Christ sustained all manner of pangs and conflicts, with hell and death, on our accounts; and thus by his sufferings, freed those who really believe in him from the fear of them."

The executioner strangled Faninus three hours before dawn, so people would not see him nor hear him speak. His body was burnt, and believers later scattered his ashes throughout the territory where he had evangelized.

John and Elizabeth Freeman - Executed in India, 1857

The "Mutiny of India" in 1857 was an uprising of Muslims and Brahmins (high caste Hindus) against the British government and particularly Christianity. It took the lives of all eight American missionaries of the Mission at Futtehgurh, including John Edgar Freeman and his wife, Elizabeth.

The Mission at Futtehgurh began 20 years earlier and included an orphanage and a Christian school. As more and more Indians came to Christ over the years, the area around the mission became a Christian village.

John Freeman manage the tent-making ministry of the mission. During his first years in India, he suffered the personal loss of two daughters and soon afterwards, his first wife. A colleague writes that John's "ministering consolation and calmness" during the dark time, was to "show the excellency and power of an inner life, fed and sustained from above."

John Freeman met his second wife, Elizabeth, while on furlough in America. Her letters from India reveal a sense of humor and an exceptional ability to evangelize and teach. Elizabeth was encouraged that the orphans to whom she taught Scripture would grow up to marry and settle in the Christian village of the mission.

In the last months before their martyrdom, the Freemans heard various reports about the "Mutiny" in other parts of India; entire congregations were being massacred. They feared for their own native Christians, but constantly renewed their hopes in the Lord. At the last possible moment, the group of eight Futtehguhr missionaries fled by boat down the Ganges River, encountering hostile villagers and military on both banks. Finally, low water prevented them from travelling further, and they slid into an island at Cawnpore.

For four days, they survived on the island until they were captured by Muslims. They were then bound and marched past exhaustion to a nearby village. June 13, 1857, they were shot at 7 a.m., execution style.

Clearly, these Christians were prepared to "part with life for Christ and His cause" if necessary, and had already counted the cost. In her last letter, Elizabeth Freeman wrote, "I sometimes think our deaths would do more good than we would do in all our lives; if so, 'His will be done.' Should I be called to lay down my life, do not grieve, dear sister, that I came here, for most joyfully will I die for Him who laid down His life for me."

Persecuted for Christ

This is the story of Hani, a young man who was born in a Christian family in Upper Egypt. He was proud of his Christian heritage. He was also proud of his name, which means "joyful" in Arabic. He treated people kindly; they could see joy and the love of Christ in his sparkling eyes. His Christian lamp was filled with oil and shone brightly for all to see.

During Hani's time of required military service, his commanding officer began to pressure him to convert to Islam. Though the officer and other Islamists attempted to lure him with promises of material wealth, Hani refused.

"I'll never leave the Lord, "he insisted. "I love Him. I was born a Christian, will remain a Christian and will die a Christian."

Hani was brutally murdered. His assailants may have killed him, but they didn't kill his soul...and they could not remove Jesus from his heart.

Jesus said all men would hate his followers because of Him (Matthew 10:22), but we rejoice in knowing Hani "stood firm until the end." His body was broken, he was brutally tortured, but Hani's lamp was not extinguished. His life and witness is the oil that keeps his lamp glowing now through others-- through those who hear his testimony.

Wanting Too Much

Someone has diagnosed the disease of modern Americans as affluence—either having too much or wanting too much. It seems that most want to live like the Johnsons next door (unless you are a Johnson) or they cannot possibly be happy. For many families, financial difficulties are the number one problem they face, even if they have more money than most other Americans or most other people in the world.

The authors of the book The Day America Told the Truth discovered some disturbing trends in their research. When Americans were asked, “'What would you give up to get ten million dollars?' 25 percent said they would abandon their family forever; another 25 percent said they would abandon God and the Church; 16 percent said they would leave their wives. In many homes, money has become king.”

God is quite interested in this issue as well. The Bible has more than 500 verses about prayer, around 500 verses that discuss faith, but more than 2,000 references to money and possessions! Of the 38 parables in the Bible, 16 of them, almost half, are about money.

There are five steps to God's financial plan for your family:

1. Transfer ownership of everything to God. Nothing really belongs to us; we are simply stewards of gifts.

2. Tithe and give offerings joyously. You don' t have to understand all about how tithing works; you just need to know that it does (2 Corinthians 9:6-8).

3. Work hard. God's plan is for us to earn our bread by the toil and sweat of our brow. Work is satisfying, molds character and develops gratitude, appreciation and value.

4. Make a realistic budget and keep accurate records. The absence of an accurate record of spending keeps couples from making good financial decisions.

5. Escape the bondage of debt. A familiar phrase from wedding ceremonies, “Till death us do part,” has tragically become, “'Till debt us do part.”

It is critically important to teach children, from the time they're very small, five important financial principles:

1. The principle of true wealth. Children need to learn that true wealth comes from giving, not from having more. The happiest among the wealthiest are those who give a lot of their wealth to help others.

2. The principle of gratitude. A child who grows up in a family where Mom and Dad do not model and expect gratitude may never learn it on his or her own.

3. The principle of responsibility. Children who are given tasks to complete with a built-in reward for accomplishment will understand that they are in charge of their lives.

4. The principle of generosity. Many times selfishness is at the root of our financial problems. All children need to learn a most important lesson: to share and be unselfish with what they have.

5. The principle of delayed gratification. One of the greatest signs of the maturity of a parent is the ability to personally delay gratification and model that principle to children.

While Madison Avenue tells us to get what we want, God wants us to enjoy what we already have. That's why Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).

Learning to Share

The Reuters news service reported recently that Branko Zivkov, a 76-year old farmer in Belgrade, purchased a grinder and cut all of his tools in half after a court ruling ordered him to split all his property with his ex-wife. He claimed that although he "had been ready to give his wife Vukadinka her equal share of everything earned during their 45-year marriage," he became so angry at the injunction to give away half of his farm equipment that he cut all of it—including "cattle scales, a harrow and a sowing machine"—right down the middle. He told a local paper, "I still haven't decided how to split the cow. She should just say what she wants—the part with the horns or the part with the tail."

Talk about a messy split!

Mr. Zivkov's behavior would seem to be a striking example of cutting off his nose to spite his face; he may have fulfilled the court's directive to split his property with his wife, but the halves of the bisected equipment will clearly be useless to either of them. As silly as his actions appear, however, I'm sure most of us have felt at least tempted to engage in similarly irrational or childish behavior—especially when provoked by a partner or family member!

It can be surprisingly difficult to cheerfully share—not just objects we own, but especially our time, compassion, and patience. We teach children to share their toys, but can be quite selfish when it comes to sharing of ourselves, particularly when we’re already feeling overwhelmed by work or other obligations. Truly sharing of ourselves, though—not a spiteful down-the-middle split of our possessions, but a genuine and open willingness to listen to, sit with, or simply encourage another person—is one of the best gifts we can give anyone else. Perhaps not surprisingly, when you do give in this way, you often find you’re not left with half of what you started with, but in fact much more.

Learning to share well takes practice and dedication. The investment, however, is worth it—especially if it means never having to choose between “horns” and “tail”!

Idol Bids Farewell to Carly

I thought she was going to be in the top 3. I can't believe she got voted off AI. It should have been either Jason or Brooke. Don't get me wrong, I like them both as well but I just think Carly has more talent than the two of them. Maybe it's her tattoo. Or it could be because of her past record label. I don't really know. I think American Idol has become more like a popularity contest (as it always have in the past seasons towards the end of the show)...that's why I don't really like watching American Idol anymore.

How Identity Theft Strikes

First, what exactly is identity theft? Identity theft occurs when someone steals your personal information to take over your credit accounts, open new ones, take out a loan, rent an apartment, access bank accounts, or commit many other crimes using your identity.

When it strikes, the effects can be devastating. What's more, because it frequently involves no physical theft, identity theft may not be noticed by its victims until significant damage has been done -- often, several months and thousands of dollars later.

How do thieves do it? First, they steal your personal information by…

  • Going through your mail or trash, looking for bank and credit card statements, pre-approved credit offers, and tax information.
  • Stealing personal information from your wallet or purse such as identification, credit, or bank cards.
  • Completing change-of-address forms to redirect your mail.
  • Obtaining your credit report by posing as a landlord or someone else who has a lawful right to the information.
  • Acquiring personal information you share on unsecured sites on the Internet.
  • Buying personal information about you from an inside source -- for example, a store employee that gets your information from a credit application or by "skimming" your credit card information when you make a purchase.
  • Getting your personnel records at work.

Then they use your personal information by…

  • Opening new credit card accounts using your name, date of birth, and Social Security number. When they use the credit cards and don't pay the bills, the delinquency is reported on your credit report.
  • Establishing phone or cellular service in your name.
  • Opening a bank account in your name and writing bad checks on the account.
  • Counterfeiting checks or debit cards, and draining your bank account.
  • Buying cars by taking out auto loans in your name.
  • Calling your credit card issuer and, pretending to be you, changing the address on the account. Bills get sent to the new address, so you don't realize there's a problem until you check your credit report.
  • Filing for bankruptcy using your name to avoid paying debts they've incurred under your name.

No Credit Card Is Necessary. Credit card fraud is just one type of identity theft. While a thief may use your information to apply for a new credit card, some types of identity theft don't involve credit cards at all. Someone with a bad credit rating may use your personal information to get a car loan, acquire phone, cellular service, or another utility service, or open a bank account in your name. Such cases can be seriously damaging, since you may not realize anything is wrong until you notice unfamiliar charges on your monthly bills or statements. Did You Know?

According to the Federal Trade Commission, identity theft complaints are broken down as follows:

  • About 50% reported that a credit card was opened in their name.
  • 25% reported that the thief established new telephone, cellular, or another service in their name.
  • 16% reported that a bank account was opened in their name, or unauthorized withdrawals had been made from their account.
  • 9% reported that the thief obtained a loan in their name.
  • 8% reported that the thief obtained a fraudulent document such as a driver's license.

Identity Theft

Identity theft is a crime that can have enormous implications on an individual's financial situation. The criminal obtains vital information about their victim, for example the driver's license, social security number, bank accounts, etc., and uses the information to steal the identity of the victim. Using this information, the criminal then uses the stolen identity to access credit, services, money and merchandise in their victim's name. The impact to the victim can be severe, including total financial ruin. This financial ruin almost always includes an utterly destroyed credit history and credit rating. The criminal can also use the stolen identity in participating in illegal activities, leaving the victim not only in a state of financial ruin, but under criminal investigation as well.

Many individuals do not even know they've fallen victim to identity theft until they apply for credit or loans. Only then do they realize that their credit history has been severely jeopardized. How do you know if your a victim? Have a credit evaluation done.

One of the top concerns of U.S. citizens in recent times include issues of privacy. An example of such privacy risk is now being addressed by the FTC in the area of bankruptcy proceedings. Many personal details are often recorded in these proceedings, including social insurance numbers and financial information. This data is often obtainable through court documents and proceedings, creating a high risk that personal data may fall into the wrong hands.

Identity theft is on the rise in America and elsewhere. Estimates for 2001 suggest that over 700,000 American consumers were the victims of identity theft. The Inspector General of the Social Security Administration is on the record as calling identity theft a "national crisis". The FTC believes that identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America today.

Don't be a victim!!

The identity theft center offers the following statistics:

- Certain government agencies estimate that identity theft cost American consumers over $945 million per year since 1997
- A Grand Jury in Florida estimates the average cost for the business community for each episode of identity theft is $17,000 per victim. (Over $11.9 billion dollars a year)
- The costs to federal agencies are enormous. Per identity theft case, the cost to the U.S. office of Attorneys is $11,443, and per financial crime investigation is $15-20,000.
- Victims of identity theft spend, on average, over 600 hours of their time working to clear their name.
- Victims of identity theft spend, on average, over $5000 to $6000 of their money working to clear their name.

It is important that all Americans understand how to minimize their risk of falling victim to identity theft, as well as what to do if they do become a victim.

On Democracy and Illegal Immigration

The following is not intended to condemn or belittle Americans who are Democrats politically: only to alert all the rest of the people to those cowardly pseudo-democrats who are constantly marching, pleading, striking, organizing, objecting and demanding the overthrow of this country through civil disobedience in direct opposition to the welfare of America. These mewling social dregs are dedicated to the empowerment of our most deadly, determined and vehement enemies who are dedicated to killing every one of us. The constant demands for healthcare and Welfare handouts, baseless pacifism and disgorgement of the country's coffers can only bring America to its knees in defeat.

It's a fact that when the original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish History professor at the University of Edinburgh, speculating on the success of the new American Democracy, had this to say about democracies with specific regard to the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government."

"A democracy can only function until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury."

"From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years."

"During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty;
4. from liberty to abundance;
5. from abundance to complacency;
6. from complacency to apathy;
7. from apathy to dependence;
8. from dependence back into bondage"

Professor Joseph Olson, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election: (Probably similar for the 2004 election.)

Number of States won by:
Gore: 19 Bush: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Gore: 580,000 Bush: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Gore: 127 million Bush: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore: 13.2 Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called “illegals” and they all become voters, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Just think about it...when the rule of the majority determines a country's fate, and the majority wants everything for nothing, they can only vote themselves into the positions vacated by those pushed-out by popular vote, who thought of the country's welfare first, and the welfare of factional elements last. I.e., "What's good for all is good for one; but that which is only good for one, strangles the rest of us." When this country's gates are finally flung wide-open, guess which sector of the new population, the newcomers, will be in...those interested in the welfare of the country? Or those more concerned with feeding, funding and treating themselves for free: i.e., those unable to contribute equally to the Whole will, with alarming alacrity, disproportionately drain it of life.

Opening the borders to the citizens of under-developed countries without absolute rule and order and a long-term plan can only have one ultimate effect: annihilation of everything dreamed of, hoped for, and for which the rest of those who have given their lives for the sake of Freedom..

The word "illegal" means - Against the Law
"Against the Law" means - Not allowed – not legal

Something that is not allowed and patently illegal must be immediately handled with all due strength and determination!

Those who indulge in illegal acts (“illegals” and their benefactors and facilitators) are supposed to be either fined, imprisoned, rehabilitated or sent back to where they came from. In this country, after three episodes of an illegal activity (3 strikes) the law of the land is that there can be NO reprieve or leniency. So what the heck is wrong with this picture??!!

You can read all of this and smile or you can become outraged and do something…your choice.
